How to make ice cream/whip cream (Fusion 360)

Learn how to make organic, "soft serve" shapes, also known as soft ice in easy steps.

  1. Step 1: Open "Create Form"

  2. Step 2: Create Box

    Select the cube "box" tool

Make a cube according to the measurements you need. Cube doesn't need to be perfect.

  3. Step 3: Edit Form

Inside Form, go to the toolbar and select "Edit Form"

An edit box will appear on the right side of your screen.

Make sure the selection filter is on "points"

    Check the "Soft Modification" box.

Now select the middle options shown below:

Now, your box should show these little dots at each intersection.

Select the top row of points (selected points are green).

Click and drag the middle white transform point to shrink the top row.

Try to create not a too-perfect "conical" shape. Shrink until you're happy with the result.

After shrinking and creating a conical-like shape, It's time to twist the same top row on the X-axis. Opt to twist up to 300 degrees either clockwise or counterclockwise (both work) .

Tip: You can try twisting both top and the following lower row simultaneously.

Be free to play with your dough.

  4. Step 4: Final tweaks

To create a narrower top, select the top middle point and drag it upwards

Drag as far as you you're happy to.

To flatten the bottom, select and drag upwards the middle bottom point.

    Flatten as desired.

    TADAAAA!!!

This is one way of many other ways to create an organic, soft shape.

You can also create a mug, or a waffle cone to finish your model! (Steps on next section)

  5. Step 5: Bonus: The Waffle cCne

    Draw a simple cone half

    Fillet edges

    Select Revolve from the toolbar

    Revolve 360 degrees

Scale the ice cream to perfectly fit the waffle cone.

Finally, render your model and add some textures, I created this one on Keyshot.
